Luton. London Luton is a busy commercial airport that also handles business aviation. It is our other typical choice and is convenient for north London, Hertfordshire and the M1 corridor. It can also offer more flexibility on timing.

Biggin Hill. London Biggin Hill serves south-east London and Kent and is known mainly for business and general aviation. It is worth considering if you are starting in Canary Wharf, the City's southern side or the Kent countryside.

London City. London City Airport is the closest to the Square Mile and Canary Wharf, but it has a steep approach, and only aircraft approved for steep approaches can use it. That limits the choice of aircraft, so we only recommend it when a suitable jet is available and the trip justifies it.

Arriving at Ibiza Airport

Ibiza Airport is the island's only airport and also serves nearby Formentera. It is operated by Aena, lies in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia about 7 km south-west of Ibiza Town, and has a single runway of 2,800 metres, according to Wikipedia. Private passengers are handled through a general aviation terminal by airport-authorised handlers, which keeps them apart from the airline terminal.

Summer slots and aircraft parking

This is the part of a private jet London to Ibiza trip that most first-time travellers do not expect. Trip-support specialist Universal Weather notes in its Balearic Islands business aviation guide that slots are required for all arrivals and departures at Ibiza, and that from 1 May to 15 October larger general aviation aircraft staying more than three hours need parking approval in advance. The slot is requested once the parking stand is confirmed.

In the busiest weeks, overnight parking can fill up. The aircraft then drops you off and repositions to another airport, returning to collect you when the trip ends. Entry into Spain from the UK

For British passport holders, GOV.UK travel advice for Spain sets out the rules: your passport should be less than ten years old on the day you enter and valid for at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen Area, and visits are limited to 90 days in any 180-day period. The EU's Entry/Exit System, which records fingerprints and a facial image on first entry, has been in operation since October 2025. The separate ETIAS travel authorisation is planned but not yet required at the time of writing. Rules change, so check the official guidance for your nationality before you travel.

Onward from the airport: villas, beaches and Formentera

Ibiza is compact, and most destinations on the island are within a short drive of the airport. Ibiza Town and the port are close by, the west coast around Sant Antoni is a straightforward drive, and Santa Eulària on the east coast is roughly 20 km away. In peak season, though, the roads are busy at changeover times and around the big clubs at night.
