Private jet Vienna to London: the route at a glance

A private jet Vienna to London flight links the Austrian capital with one of Europe's largest financial centres in a little over two hours. Our figures put the great-circle distance at 698 nautical miles. A light jet covers it in an estimated 2 hours 15 minutes, a midsize jet in about 2 hours 10 minutes, and super midsize and heavy jets in about 2 hours 5 minutes, with ultra-long-range jets at about 2 hours.

That makes this one of the longer sectors among our European corridors, and the extra time in the air changes the priorities. On a 50-minute hop, cabin size barely matters. On a flight of more than two hours, the ability to stand up, work at a table or eat a proper meal starts to count. And because the flight leaves the Schengen Area and enters the United Kingdom, the paperwork matters as much as the aircraft.

The data sections above show flight times by category, the airports at each end, the right-sized aircraft and estimate ranges for this corridor. This guide explains how to read them and what to plan for, from the general aviation terminal at Schwechat to your door in London.

We are a charter broker. We do not own or operate aircraft; we source flights from licensed operators, present the options side by side and manage the trip until you land. You can read more about how we work on the JetPriceCheck homepage.

Who flies from Vienna to London privately

Vienna is a centre for diplomacy, international organisations, banking and Central and Eastern European business. London is where much of that business is financed, advised and insured. The result is a corridor with a strong professional core.

  • Business and finance. Executives, advisers and investors with meetings in the City or Mayfair, often on a one- or two-day trip.
  • Families. Austrian and regional families with children at school or university in England, or with a home in London, fly for term starts, half-terms and holidays.
  • Culture and sport. London's theatre, auctions and sporting calendar pull visitors from Vienna; in the other direction, Vienna's concert and ball season draws Londoners.
  • Regional travellers. Vienna is a convenient gathering point for travellers from neighbouring countries who want a single private departure to London.

For many of them, the scheduled alternative means a hub terminal at each end and, on arrival in London, a long queue at border control. A Vienna to London private flight replaces that with a private terminal at each end and a short, managed arrival process.

Departing Vienna: the general aviation terminal at Schwechat

Unlike London or Paris, Vienna does not have a separate business-aviation airport. Private flights use Vienna International Airport, which Wikipedia places in Schwechat, about 18 km south-east of central Vienna. The airport is also linked to Wien Mitte in the city by the City Airport Train in about 16 minutes, though most private travellers go by car.

Private passengers do not use the main terminals. They use the airport's General Aviation Terminal, on the west side of the airfield towards Schwechat. The building houses its own security and customs checks, VIP lounges and a restaurant, according to its builder, PORR, and several fixed-base operators (FBOs) work from it. Your operator chooses the handler, and we send you the meeting point with the trip sheet.

Because this is a flight leaving the Schengen Area, passengers pass an exit passport check in the terminal before boarding. Allow a little more time than you would for a domestic hop, but still far less than for a scheduled flight.

Arriving in London: choosing the right airport

London has several business aviation airports, and choosing the right one for your final address can save an hour on the road. Our data lists four arrival options for this corridor, with Farnborough and Luton the most typical.

Farnborough

Farnborough Airport is dedicated to business aviation, with no scheduled airline service. It is south-west of London, convenient for west London, Surrey and the M3 and M4 corridors. It operates within planning limits, including an annual cap on movements with a separate weekend limit, according to the airport's own FAQ. Weekend hours are shorter than weekday hours, so late Sunday arrivals need checking before we confirm.

Luton

London Luton has a busy business aviation side alongside its airline traffic. It suits north London, Hertfordshire and anyone heading up the M1, and it is often a practical choice for early and late arrivals.

Biggin Hill and London City

London Biggin Hill is a business aviation airport to the south-east, convenient for Kent and south-east London. London City is closest to the financial district, but its steep approach means only approved aircraft can operate there. If your meetings are in the City or Canary Wharf, we check whether a suitable aircraft is available for London City before defaulting to another airport.

The best choice depends on where you are going and when you land. We recommend an airport, and explain the trade-off, when we present the options.

Entering the UK: borders, GAR and the ETA

This is the part of a private jet Vienna to London trip that needs the most attention before the day.

General Aviation Report. For private flights into and out of the UK, the operator must submit a General Aviation Report (GAR) to UK authorities ahead of the flight, according to the UK government's general aviation guidance. It lists everyone on board, so we collect full names, dates of birth and passport details when you book. If the passenger list changes, tell us straight away.

Border control. Austria is in the Schengen Area and the UK is not, so passengers clear UK border control on arrival. At business aviation terminals this is usually quick and private, but it is a formal immigration check.

Electronic Travel Authorisation. Austrian and other EU, EEA and Swiss nationals need a UK ETA to visit. According to Wikipedia and the Home Office ETA factsheet, the requirement has applied to European nationals since April 2025 and has been strictly enforced since February 2026: travellers who need one and do not have it will not be allowed to travel. Irish citizens are exempt. Check every guest before the day, including children, and allow time for approval.

Travellers of other nationalities should check whether they need a UK visa or ETA, and whether they need anything to return to the Schengen Area afterwards.

Choosing the aircraft for a Vienna–London private jet charter

Every jet category in our table flies the route nonstop, and the Light Jet is the smallest that does. The question is comfort over a two-hour-plus sector.

Light jets for small groups

For up to about six passengers travelling light, a light jet such as the Embraer Phenom 300E covers the route in about 2 hours 15 minutes on our model. It is the most economical jet option, but cabin height is limited and the hold is smaller.

Midsize and super midsize jets: the sweet spot

This is where a stand-up cabin earns its place. A midsize jet such as the Cessna Citation Latitude offers a flat floor and more luggage room, and our model puts it at about 2 hours 10 minutes. A super midsize jet like the Bombardier Challenger 350 or the Cessna Citation Longitude adds a wider cabin and gets there in about 2 hours 5 minutes. For a working flight or a family with school luggage, this is often the most comfortable balance of space and cost.

Heavy jets, VIP airliners and turboprops

Heavy jets such as the Embraer Legacy 650E and the Bombardier Challenger 650 suit groups of ten or more. VIP airliners are arranged case by case. Turboprops are estimated at about 3 hours, and our data does not confirm their range fit for this corridor, so a fuel stop is possible; we would check the route with the operator before offering one. See every category in our aircraft guide.

Private jet Vienna to London price: reading the estimates

The price table above shows estimate ranges from our demonstration pricing model, in US dollars. They are not quotes and not offers. A firm price comes only from a licensed operator for a specific aircraft and date.

On our model, a one-way light jet for a private jet Vienna to London trip sits at an estimated USD 14,500–21,500. A midsize jet is estimated at USD 17,500–26,000, a super midsize jet at USD 21,500–31,500 and a heavy jet at USD 26,500–39,500. Turboprops are estimated at USD 12,000–19,500 one way, subject to the range check above. Our private jet cost guide explains how the ranges are built.

One-way versus return

Our model shows each return estimate well below twice the one-way figure. For a light jet, the estimated return range is USD 18,000–27,000, against USD 14,500–21,500 one way. A one-way often pays for the aircraft to fly home empty; a return uses that sector. For a short business trip, pricing the return together usually makes sense. For a longer stay, two separate one-ways may work out better, and we will compare them for you.

What moves the price

  • Aircraft category. The largest lever, especially on a two-hour sector.
  • Positioning. If no suitable aircraft is based in Vienna, bringing one in, and taking it home, is part of the cost.
  • London arrival airport. Handling and landing fees differ between Farnborough, Luton, Biggin Hill and London City.
  • Timing. Weekend hours at some London airports, school-holiday peaks and short notice all narrow the options.
  • Waiting time. If the aircraft stays in London, crew and parking costs apply.

When you want a firm figure, request a quote from JetPriceCheck and we will ask licensed operators for availability on your dates.

Timing your flight: the one-hour gain

London is one hour behind Vienna. Flying west, you gain that hour: leave Schwechat at 9:00 local time and, with about 2 hours 10 minutes in the air, you land in London before 10:30 local time. That makes a morning departure and a full London afternoon realistic. On the way back you lose the hour, so an evening departure from London lands late in Vienna; we check that against the airports' operating hours.

Empty legs between Vienna and London

Aircraft that bring clients to London often head back to their bases in Central Europe empty, and aircraft based in the UK fly to Vienna to collect passengers. Operators sometimes sell those sectors at a lower price. The times and aircraft are fixed by the original trip and can change, so empty legs suit flexible travellers. The empty legs section above shows current listings, and our empty-leg flights page explains how they work.
