Embraer Praetor 600 charter: why this aircraft stands out

An Embraer Praetor 600 charter is how many travellers cross the Atlantic nonstop without paying for a heavy jet. The Praetor 600 is a super midsize jet, so it has the six-foot, flat-floor cabin and the eight- or nine-seat layout you would expect from that class, but it adds range that most rivals do not. In our route screening it is the only super midsize jet in our dataset that reaches London to New York, Paris to New York and London to Dubai nonstop.

The facts strip above lists the specification values in our dataset; the screening table shows trips the aircraft can typically fly nonstop; and the peer table places it among the other super midsize jets we track. These are published manufacturer or public figures, not independently verified. This guide explains what they mean for a real booking: which trips the Praetor 600 opens up, what the cabin is like, and when a different aircraft is the better call.

We are a charter broker. We do not own or operate the Praetor 600 or any other aircraft. We ask licensed operators for aircraft that fit your trip, compare the offers side by side and coordinate the details until you land. More about how we work is on the JetPriceCheck homepage.

From Legacy 500 to Praetor 600

Embraer introduced the Praetor 600 at the end of the 2010s as a development of its Legacy 500, with more fuel capacity, uprated Honeywell HTF7500E engines and aerodynamic refinements, according to Embraer's Praetor 600 page and the Legacy 500 and Praetor entry on Wikipedia. Embraer publishes a range of about 4,000 nautical miles with four passengers and standard NBAA IFR reserves, and markets the aircraft as the farthest-flying jet in its class. Our facts strip carries a matching figure.

Two other design choices matter to passengers:

  • Full fly-by-wire controls. Rare in this size of aircraft, and the basis for Embraer's turbulence reduction system, which is designed to smooth out the ride in choppy air.
  • A cabin altitude kept relatively low. Embraer promotes a lower cabin altitude than many rivals at cruise, which many travellers find less tiring on long sectors.

Neither makes turbulence or jet lag disappear, but on a seven-hour ocean crossing they are real comfort advantages.

The corridors the Praetor 600 adds

Our fact pack screens 95 corridors in our route set as nonstop for the Praetor 600, after applying a practical-range margin for winds, reserves and loads. That is the largest list of any super midsize jet we track. These are screening estimates; each trip is confirmed with the operator for the date, load and forecast.

Compared with the Bombardier Challenger 350, the Praetor 600 adds twelve corridors in our screening, and they fall into three groups.

Transatlantic

  • London – New York
  • London – Boston
  • London – Washington, D.C.
  • Paris – New York
  • Madrid – New York

Gulf and Europe

  • London – Dubai
  • Riyadh – London
  • Dubai – Paris
  • Geneva – Dubai
  • Madrid – Dubai

Asia

  • Tokyo – Singapore
  • Dubai – Singapore

Everything a super midsize jet normally does is also on the list: New York to Los Angeles, Dubai to Nice, Milan and Istanbul, the main European shuttles, Caribbean and Mexican resort trips, and Gulf regional links. The private jet range guide explains how the screening is done and why published range is always more generous than planned range.

Eastbound and westbound are not the same trip

Over the North Atlantic, the jet stream usually helps eastbound flights and hinders westbound ones, and the effect is strongest in winter. A London to New York flight with a full cabin on a day of strong headwinds may need a fuel stop even in an aircraft whose screening says nonstop. If arriving without a stop is essential, tell us: the operator can check the plan against the forecast, reduce the load or suggest a different aircraft. Eastbound, New York to London, the margin is usually comfortable.

Inside the Praetor 600

Stand-up cabin with a flat floor. Our dataset lists a cabin height of about six feet and a width of about 6.8 feet, with a flat floor throughout. Most adults can stand and walk the aisle comfortably.

Seating. Typical layouts combine a four-seat club with a two-seat conference group and a divan, or a double club. Our dataset shows eight to nine passengers as typical, with a published maximum of twelve. For an ocean crossing, six to eight adults is the comfortable planning number.

Sleeping. Club seats can be paired into flat beds, and the divan can form a berth, so several passengers can sleep on an overnight eastbound flight.

Galley. A forward galley can heat catering and serve hot drinks. On a long sector, ask for a full catering order in advance.

Lavatory. An enclosed rear lavatory is standard. Confirm the layout of the aircraft offered, because interiors vary.

Connectivity. Many Praetor 600s have high-speed Wi-Fi, but coverage and systems vary, particularly over oceans. Tell us if you need to work online during the flight.

Baggage

Our dataset lists about 155 cubic feet of baggage space, the largest published figure among the super midsize jets in our peer table. Embraer describes part of that space as reachable during the flight. For a transatlantic trip with a full cabin, that is a real advantage: eight people rarely travel light across an ocean. As always, send us a description of large or unusual items so we can confirm with the operator.

Who an Embraer Praetor 600 charter suits

It is a strong fit for:

  • Transatlantic business trips for small groups. Four to eight passengers flying London or Paris to New York or Boston nonstop, without paying heavy-jet estimates.
  • Gulf-to-Europe travel. Dubai or Riyadh to London, Paris or Geneva in one hop.
  • Families on long holidays. Space to stand, sleep and store luggage, with range to reach distant resorts.
  • Travellers sensitive to turbulence. The fly-by-wire system and turbulence reduction aim to make choppy air more comfortable.

It is less suited to:

  • Short trips. A 90-minute hop does not need this range; a light or midsize jet will cost less.
  • Groups of ten or more. A heavy jet gives more room and more baggage space.
  • Travellers who want a separate bedroom. For that, look at heavy or ultra-long-range jets.
  • Very long ultra-range flights. Trips such as New York to Dubai need a larger class of aircraft.

Embraer Praetor 600 charter cost

The cost section above applies our pricing model's super midsize rate, USD 6,000–8,500 per flight hour, built on published market rates, and shows sample one-way estimates for nonstop trips. These are estimates, not quotes and not offers. A firm price comes only from a licensed operator for a named aircraft and date. The private jet cost guide explains how the model builds its ranges.

The things that move a Praetor 600 quote most:

  1. Positioning. The fleet is smaller than that of the Challenger 350, so the nearest available aircraft may be further away, and positioning can be a larger share of the bill.
  2. One-way transatlantic trips. If the aircraft has to fly home empty, that return crossing is often priced in. A return trip, or an operator with a return booking already, can change the numbers a lot.
  3. Crew duty and overnights. Long days may need an extra crew member or an overnight stop, and crews waiting abroad need hotels.
  4. Fees. Landing, handling, overflight and navigation charges add up on international trips.
  5. Season and dates. Summer transatlantic demand and holiday periods tighten supply.
  6. Aircraft age and interior. Newer or refurbished aircraft can cost more.

Praetor 600 or a heavy jet across the Atlantic?

For small groups, the Praetor 600 usually offers a lower estimate range than a heavy jet, with a similar nonstop capability on key transatlantic routes. A heavy jet gives more cabin space, more baggage room and more margin in strong headwinds. If your group is six or fewer and luggage is reasonable, the Praetor 600 is often the value choice. If it is eight or more with heavy bags, or the dates fall in deep winter, we price both.

Empty legs across the Atlantic

Transatlantic one-way trips create repositioning flights, and some are offered as empty legs. They can be good value for flexible travellers, but the date, time and aircraft are fixed by someone else's trip and can change. Our empty leg flights page explains how to use them without relying on them.

Planning a transatlantic Praetor 600 flight

A nonstop ocean crossing in a super midsize jet is straightforward for the operator, but a few points on your side make it smoother:

  • Entry rules come first. For flights into the United States, every passenger needs the right travel authorisation or visa before departure, and operators submit passenger details in advance. Flights into the United Kingdom, the Schengen area and the Gulf have their own requirements. Send passport details early.
  • Choose the arrival airport with customs in mind. Not every airport near a big city handles international private arrivals at every hour. We confirm customs availability for your arrival time with the operator.
  • Time your departure for your body clock. Eastbound overnight flights let you sleep and arrive in the morning; westbound daytime flights let you land in the afternoon at your destination. The beds on board make either possible.
  • Plan the catering like a long-haul meal service. Two meals and snacks for seven hours need ordering in advance, and special diets need more notice.
  • Pack for the hold you can reach. Keep essentials in cabin bags and in the part of the baggage area that is reachable in flight.
  • Keep a plan B for winter. If a fuel stop becomes likely on the day, the operator will choose where; a short stop in Canada, Ireland or Iceland is common on North Atlantic routes.

How we arrange a Praetor 600 charter

  1. You share the trip. Dates, cities or airports, passenger names and nationalities for international sectors, luggage and special requests.
  2. We ask licensed operators. We look for Praetor 600s and comparable aircraft, including how far each must position.
  3. You compare options. Aircraft year, interior details where available, inclusions, positioning, crew and overnight costs, side by side.
  4. You confirm on the operator's terms. The operator runs the flight; we coordinate.
  5. We stay with the trip. Weather, winds, slots and changing plans are handled with the operator.

Praetor 600 charter FAQ

Can the Praetor 600 fly London to New York nonstop?

Our screening marks London to New York as nonstop for the Praetor 600. Westbound winter headwinds can require a stop on some days with a full cabin, so the operator confirms the plan for your date.

How many passengers does a Praetor 600 carry?

Our dataset shows eight to nine passengers as typical. For long flights, six to eight adults is the comfortable number.

What is the Praetor 600's range?

Embraer publishes about 4,000 nautical miles with four passengers and standard reserves. Practical charter range is lower once winds, reserves and a full load are included.

How is it different from the Challenger 350?

The Challenger 350 has a wider cabin and a much larger fleet. The Praetor 600 flies further, reaching transatlantic routes nonstop in our screening, and publishes a large baggage figure (about 155 cubic feet).

How much does a Praetor 600 charter cost?

Our pricing model, built on published market rates, uses USD 6,000–8,500 per flight hour for super midsize jets. Positioning, one-way crossings, fees and dates decide the final number, and only an operator's quote is firm.

Is the Praetor 600 good in turbulence?

It has full fly-by-wire controls and a turbulence reduction system designed to smooth the ride. No aircraft avoids turbulence entirely, but many passengers notice the difference.
