Cessna Citation Longitude charter in one paragraph

A Cessna Citation Longitude charter gives you a super midsize business jet with a flat-floor, stand-up cabin and enough range to fly from New York to Los Angeles, London to Boston or Dubai to Mumbai without a fuel stop. It is the largest and longest-legged Citation that Textron Aviation has taken into service, and it sits at the top of the super midsize class: more room than a midsize jet, a lower hourly cost than a heavy jet, and a cabin that most passengers find comfortable for four to seven hours.

The figures above this guide come from our dataset: published manufacturer or public figures, not independently verified. This guide adds the judgement you need to decide whether the Longitude is the right aircraft for your trip, what to ask an operator before you confirm one, and when a different jet would serve you better. We are a charter broker: we do not own or operate aircraft, and every Longitude we source is flown by a licensed operator. You can read how that works on the JetPriceCheck homepage.

What the Citation Longitude is

The Longitude is built by Textron Aviation under the Cessna brand, the same company behind the Citation Latitude and the smaller Citation jets. According to the Textron Aviation product page and its Wikipedia entry, it received its US type certificate in 2019 and entered service shortly after. That makes it one of the youngest designs you will find on the charter market in its class, and most airframes available to charter are only a few years old.

Two Honeywell HTF7700L turbofans power it, the same engine family used on the Bombardier Challenger 350, and the cockpit uses a Garmin G5000 flight deck. For passengers, those details matter less than what they add up to: a modern, relatively quiet cabin, a published range of about 3,500 nautical miles, and a high-speed cruise of around 483 knots true airspeed. Our facts strip above lists the same figures.

Where it sits in the super midsize class

Super midsize jets fill the gap between midsize aircraft, which are ideal for two- to four-hour trips, and heavy jets, which open up long transatlantic and Gulf-to-Europe sectors. Within that class, the Longitude's selling point is reach. It flies further than the Bombardier Challenger 350, and it competes directly with the Embraer Praetor 600 on distance while offering a cabin that is slightly taller and closer in feel to a larger jet. You can see the whole class side by side on our super midsize jets page.

The Citation Longitude cabin

A cabin is where a charter is actually experienced, so it deserves more attention than the range figure.

Space and layout

Textron Aviation publishes a cabin of about 6 ft in height, around 6 ft 5 in (6.4 ft) in width and about 25 ft in length, with a flat floor from the cockpit door to the rear. In practice that means most adults can stand upright or close to it, walk to the lavatory without stooping, and stretch their legs under a table.

Typical charter layouts carry eight or nine passengers in a mix of club seats and a divan, and the aircraft seats up to 12 in published figures. Our facts strip shows the same split between typical and maximum seating. For comfort on a flight of four hours or more, plan on six to eight passengers rather than filling every seat.

Baggage

The Longitude's rear baggage compartment is around 112 cubic feet in the published data, and it is accessible from the cabin in flight, so a coat, a laptop bag or a change of clothes stays within reach. That volume comfortably takes golf bags or ski bags for a smaller group, but a full cabin of passengers each with a large case will fill it. Tell us early about oversized items; baggage decides aircraft choice more often than passenger count.

Sleeping and overnight flights

The Longitude is not a dedicated sleeper. Club seats recline and the divan can be made up into a bed in some layouts, which is enough for one or two passengers to rest on a red-eye from the West Coast to the East Coast or from the Gulf to Europe. If everybody on board needs a flat bed, look at the heavy-jet category instead.

Connectivity and cabin quiet

Many Longitudes carry satellite connectivity, but equipment varies between airframes and operators. We ask each operator to confirm the connectivity system, data allowance and any charges before you book, because "Wi-Fi on board" can mean very different things.

Citation Longitude range: what it flies nonstop

The screening table above tests the Longitude against the city pairs we cover. It applies a practical margin to the published range, because 3,500 nm is measured in ideal conditions with a light load and reserves; a full cabin, headwinds, winter temperatures and alternate-airport requirements all shorten it. Our private jet range guide explains that gap in plain terms.

On our screening estimates, a Cessna Citation Longitude charter covers 86 of the 104 corridors in our network nonstop. The pattern is clear:

  • All of North America. Every US domestic corridor we list screens nonstop, including New York to Los Angeles, Miami to Los Angeles and New York to Aspen, as well as the short shuttle routes such as New York to Boston or Washington.
  • Europe, end to end. London to Nice, Geneva to Ibiza, Madrid to Marrakech, Munich to Paris and every other intra-European corridor we list fit comfortably.
  • The Gulf and nearby. Dubai to Riyadh, Doha, Jeddah, Istanbul and Mumbai screen nonstop, as do Dubai to Malé, Dubai to Milan, Rome to Dubai and Zurich to Dubai.
  • One transatlantic corridor. London to Boston is the only transatlantic city pair on our list that screens nonstop, because it is the shortest of them.

Where the Longitude reaches its limit

The corridors that do not screen nonstop are just as useful to know. On our estimates, London to New York, Paris to New York, Madrid to New York, London to Dubai, Paris to Dubai, Madrid to Dubai, Tokyo to Singapore and Dubai to Singapore sit beyond a comfortable margin. Those are not impossible trips: a short fuel stop, such as Shannon or Gander across the Atlantic, can make them work, and on a light load in favourable winds an operator may plan some of them nonstop. But if you want certainty of a nonstop sector on those routes, a heavy jet is the better fit.

This is the single most important decision point for the Longitude. If your trips are mainly within a continent, it is an excellent tool. If your key trip is transatlantic from London, Paris or Madrid to New York, compare it against a heavy jet rather than assuming it will make the crossing without a stop.

Cessna Citation Longitude charter cost: reading the estimates

The cost section above shows our model's hourly band for super midsize jets and a few trip estimates for nonstop routes. Those are estimates built from published market rates, not quotes and not offers. A firm price can only come from an operator for a specific aircraft, date and itinerary.

What makes a Longitude trip cost more or less than the estimate:

  • Positioning. If the nearest available Longitude is based far from your departure airport, you pay for it to fly in, and often to fly home after a one-way trip.
  • Aircraft age and interior. Most Longitudes are young, so there is less spread between airframes than in older types, but interior specification and connectivity still vary.
  • Waiting days. Crew overnight costs and parking are added when the aircraft stays with you.
  • Season and demand. Holiday periods, major events and ski-season weekends tighten availability and push prices up.
  • Airport fees. Landing, handling and parking charges vary widely by airport and aircraft size.

Our private jet cost guide explains how our estimates are built and what sits inside an operator's quote. When you want a real number, ask us for a quote with your dates and passenger count, and we will return the Longitude options available alongside any comparable aircraft.

One-way, return and empty legs

For a one-way trip, you usually pay for the return positioning sector. A return trip within a few days, or two one-ways with the aircraft released in between, can each be the better option depending on the length of your stay. Because Longitudes are widely used by fleet and fractional operators, they also appear as positioning flights; our empty-leg flights page explains how those work and why they suit flexible travellers.

Citation Longitude vs other super midsize jets

The peer table above lists the other super midsize jets in our dataset. Here is how we would frame the choice when you charter.

If your priority is Consider Why
Longest nonstop reach in the class Citation Longitude or Praetor 600 Both publish more range than the Challenger 350 in our data.
Widest availability in the US Challenger 350 A large, established fleet means more options on short notice.
Youngest cabin on average Citation Longitude Entered service in 2019, so most airframes are recent.
Lowest price on a short sector A midsize jet On trips under two hours, the extra range of the Longitude is unused.
Transatlantic nonstop from Europe to New York A heavy jet Heavy jets carry the fuel for the longer crossings; compare them on the aircraft index.

On a coast-to-coast US trip or a long European sector, the Longitude and the Praetor 600 are the natural pair to compare. On a New York to Florida hop or a London to Geneva ski run, the Longitude's range is overkill, and the Challenger 350 often offers more choice of aircraft and positioning. Browse all categories and types on our aircraft index.

Who the Citation Longitude suits

Business teams on long domestic days

A team of five or six flying New York to Los Angeles can work on the way out and rest on the way back. The Longitude's range means no fuel stop in the middle of the country, and its cabin is large enough that the six-hour sector does not feel cramped.

Families heading to the mountains or the sun

Aspen, Nassau, Cabo San Lucas and Cancún all appear in our nonstop screening list. For a family of four to six with skis or golf clubs, the Longitude balances cabin space, baggage and cost well. Mountain airports bring their own rules on aircraft performance, so we check with the operator that the specific aircraft and load work at the destination on your date.

European and Gulf travellers who want one aircraft for the season

From London, Geneva, Nice, Madrid or Dubai, almost every trip on our network except the long intercontinental sectors fits within the Longitude's range. If you fly several times in a season, using the same aircraft type means consistent cabin standards trip after trip.

When it is not the right jet

Choose something else if you need a dependable nonstop transatlantic from continental Europe, beds for everybody on a night flight, or seats for more than nine people in comfort. Choose something smaller if your usual trip is under 90 minutes and the passenger count is low.

What to ask before you confirm a Longitude

  • Year of manufacture and interior refurbishment. Most are recent, but ask anyway.
  • Seating layout. Eight or nine seats is typical; confirm which seat converts to a bed.
  • Connectivity. System type, coverage over water, data limits and cost.
  • Baggage plan. Share the list of cases and oversized items so the operator can confirm weight and balance.
  • Catering and special requests. Dietary needs, child seats and pets, all subject to the operator's policy and entry rules at the destination.
  • Operator certification. In the US, charter flights for hire are flown under an FAA Part 135 certificate, and the FAA's Part 135 guidance explains what that means; in other regions the equivalent is the operator's air operator certificate. We share the operating carrier's details before you book.

How we arrange a Cessna Citation Longitude charter

As a broker, we start with the trip rather than the aircraft. You tell us the route, date, passenger count and luggage. We ask licensed operators for available Longitudes and comparable aircraft, and we present them side by side with aircraft year, layout and the key terms of each operator's quote. You choose; the operator's contract applies; we stay with the trip through the ground arrangements and any schedule changes.

If you are still planning where to fly, the directory of private jet routes lists every corridor we cover, each with its own flight times and estimates by category.

Citation Longitude charter FAQ

How many passengers does a Citation Longitude carry?

It seats up to 12 passengers in published figures, but typical charter layouts seat eight or nine. For flights over three or four hours, six to eight passengers is the comfortable range.

Can a Citation Longitude fly across the Atlantic nonstop?

On our screening estimates, only the shortest transatlantic corridor we cover, London to Boston, fits nonstop with a practical margin. London, Paris or Madrid to New York usually needs a fuel stop or a heavy jet, although an operator may plan some sectors nonstop on a light load and in favourable winds.

Is the Citation Longitude a heavy jet?

No. It is a super midsize jet, although its cabin height and flat floor feel closer to a larger aircraft than most of its class. It is typically priced within the super midsize band rather than the heavy-jet band.

Can you stand up in a Citation Longitude?

Textron publishes a cabin height of about 6 ft with a flat floor, so most adults can stand upright or nearly so. Very tall passengers may still need to stoop slightly.

How far in advance should I book a Longitude?

For ordinary dates, a few days is often enough, and short-notice trips are possible when an aircraft is nearby. For holiday weeks, major events and ski-season weekends, book as early as your plans allow.

Is the Citation Longitude still in production?

Yes, our dataset lists it as in production, and Textron Aviation continues to market it. That means newer airframes keep joining charter fleets.
