Gulfstream G600 charter: the long-range middle ground

The Gulfstream G600 sits in the middle of Gulfstream's long-range line-up and, for many charter trips, that is exactly where you want to be. It has a published range of about 6,600 nautical miles, a typical charter load of 14 to 16 passengers and, in published figures, sleeping for up to ten. On our screen it flies every one of the 104 corridors we list, with only New York to Dubai marked as marginal. It usually costs less to charter than the flagship G650 or G700, yet it covers almost the same map.

The tiles and tables above show the figures our site uses: range, passengers (up to 19 certified), a cabin about 6.2 ft high, 7.6 ft wide and 45.2 ft long, 175 cubic feet of baggage space, the nonstop corridors and the hourly band for its class. They are published manufacturer figures from Gulfstream's G600 page, sourced but not independently audited. Our record has no cruise speed, so we describe speed qualitatively.

The Gulfstream G600 in context

Where it sits in the Gulfstream family

The G600 was developed alongside the smaller G500 and entered service in 2019, as its Wikipedia entry records. It shares the G500's cabin cross-section, engines family and cockpit, but it is longer and carries more fuel. Above it sit the G650 and G700, which add width and range; below it, the G500 trades some range and cabin length for a lower category rate.

For many operators and clients, the G600 fills the role the G550 played for a generation: a long-range Gulfstream that is large enough for a real overnight flight without the cost of the flagship.

Modern systems throughout

The G600 uses Gulfstream's Symmetry Flight Deck, with active-control sidesticks, fly-by-wire controls and touchscreen panels, and Pratt & Whitney PW800-family engines. From the cabin you notice the results rather than the technology: a quiet environment, large oval windows and cabin systems that are a decade newer than those on the aircraft it succeeds.

Inside the Gulfstream G600 cabin

Published figures put the cabin at about 45.2 ft long, 7.6 ft wide and 6.2 ft high. The extra length over the G500 allows up to four living areas, which changes how a long flight feels: there is room to work, to eat and to sleep without everyone sharing one space.

Typical G600 layouts

  • Forward club: four seats near the galley, often used for working and meals.
  • Second club or dining area: a conference or dining group for four to six.
  • Lounge: a divan opposite a pair of seats, useful for resting on a daytime flight.
  • Aft stateroom: on many aircraft, a private rear cabin with a bed and lavatory access.

Our data gives a typical charter load of 14 to 16 passengers, with 19 certified on high-density layouts. Published figures list sleeping for up to ten, second only to the Gulfstream G700 among the aircraft in our records with a published figure. On an overnight crossing with eight to ten people, that usually means everyone can lie flat. Our private jet interior guide explains the terminology.

Baggage and amenities

Published figures give 175 cubic feet of baggage space, accessible in flight on Gulfstream's large-cabin aircraft. Connectivity, entertainment and galley equipment depend on the operator's configuration; our private jet amenities guide lists what to ask for. Long flights mean several meals, so tell us about dietary needs early.

Gulfstream G600 range in practice

Our screen takes about 85% of published range as usable once passengers, baggage, winds and reserves are included, which gives the G600 a practical reach of about 5,610 nm. It also adds 5% to the great-circle distance for routing. Our private jet range tool shows the method.

Corridors the Gulfstream G600 flies nonstop

The G600 flies 103 of our 104 corridors nonstop on that screen. They are screening estimates, not flight plans. The longest include:

  • London to Los Angeles, about 4,720 nm in our data, with margin to spare.
  • Geneva to Aspen and London to Aspen, subject to the operator's approval for Aspen.
  • New York to São Paulo and Hong Kong to Sydney.
  • All the transatlantic pairs we list, including Nice and Geneva to New York and London to Miami.
  • Europe to the Gulf and Asia, including Dubai to Singapore and Tokyo to Singapore.

Marginal: New York to Dubai

New York to Dubai is about 5,950 nm great circle in our data. With the routing allowance it falls between the G600's practical and published range, so our screen marks it as marginal: a nonstop is possible with a moderate load and favourable winds, but the operator may plan a stop. Eastbound, with tailwinds, a nonstop is more likely than on the return. If the trip must be nonstop both ways with a full cabin, compare the Gulfstream G700, Global 7500 or Global 8000.

Short sectors

Short hops such as Miami to Orlando or Paris to Geneva are well within its reach, but for a one-hour flight a smaller jet usually costs much less. We suggest the G600 when it is already in position or when a short leg sits inside a longer trip.

Gulfstream G600 price: what charter costs

The cost section above shows the band our pricing model uses for ultra-long-range jets: about USD 12,500 to 17,500 per flight hour. The band comes from published market rate guides and gives estimates, not quotes. A G600 is a new-generation aircraft, so expect it in the upper half of the band on many quotes, although often below the flagship G650 and G700.

What moves a real quote:

  • Positioning. On a one-way trip the aircraft usually returns empty, and part of that cost is charged. Our model applies a 1.6 positioning factor to one-way estimates.
  • Crew. The longest sectors may need an augmented crew; overnights add hotels.
  • Airport, handling and navigation charges, which vary widely by country.
  • Catering, connectivity and winter de-icing, charged at cost.
  • Waiting days between legs.

Our private jet cost guide breaks down each driver, and our Gulfstream charter prices guide compares the Gulfstream range. For a real figure, ask JetPriceCheck for a Gulfstream G600 quote and we will compare what licensed operators can offer.

Empty legs

Long-range Gulfstreams often reposition across the Atlantic or between Europe and the Gulf. If your dates can follow an aircraft, an empty leg can cut the cost of a long sector significantly. See our empty-leg flights page.

Gulfstream G600 versus other long-range jets

The table uses the specifications in our records.

Aircraft Range Typical passengers Cabin width / length How it compares with a Gulfstream G600
Gulfstream G650 7,000 nm 14–16 8.2 / 46.8 ft Wider, slightly longer and more range; usually a higher rate.
Gulfstream G550 6,750 nm 14–16 7.3 / 43.9 ft Older, out of production; similar range, narrower and shorter cabin.
Global 6500 6,600 nm 13–15 7.9 / 43.3 ft Same published range; wider, slightly shorter cabin.
Falcon 8X 6,450 nm 12–14 7.7 / 42.7 ft Three-engine alternative with strong airport access; a little less range.
Global 5500 5,900 nm 13–15 7.9 / 40.8 ft Wider, shorter cabin and less range; often a lower rate.
Falcon 7X 5,950 nm 12–14 7.7 / 39.1 ft Out of production; shorter cabin, less range; often good value.

The full class is on our ultra-long-range jet page, and our aircraft guide and private jet sizes guide compare every category.

G600 or G650?

The G650 has a wider cabin (8.2 ft against 7.6 ft in our records) and 400 nm more published range. On our corridor list the difference shows up mainly on New York to Dubai, which is marginal for the G600. For most transatlantic and Europe–Gulf trips, both fly nonstop, and the G600's newer systems and usually lower rate make it a strong alternative. If width matters to your group, price both.

Who a Gulfstream G600 charter suits

  • Groups of eight to twelve on overnight flights, where sleeping for up to ten matters.
  • Travellers who want long-range certainty on transatlantic, transpacific and Gulf trips without paying flagship rates.
  • Mixed business and family trips, where four living areas let people work and rest separately.
  • Clients moving from the G550, who want the same mission in a newer aircraft.

It is more than you need for short sectors, and the very largest groups may prefer a G700 or Global 7500.

Planning a long G600 trip

  • Departure time. Eastbound overnights let passengers sleep; westbound daytime flights shorten the day and ease jet lag.
  • Crew duty. The operator decides whether an augmented crew is needed under its approved flight-time limitations.
  • Customs. The first landing in a new country must be at an airport with border services; the operator files advance passenger data for international arrivals.
  • Airports. Our directory of private jet routes shows the airports we use on each corridor.
  • Emissions. If your company reports travel emissions, our private jet emissions guide explains the options.

How we source a Gulfstream G600

Most G600s on the charter market are relatively young, but no two are identical. Before we present one, we check with the operator:

  1. Operator and certificate. The aircraft must be operated commercially under a valid air operator certificate, not just owned by someone willing to lend it.
  2. Layout and berths. Four-zone and three-zone cabins feel very different on a night flight. We confirm whether there is a private stateroom and how many passengers can lie flat.
  3. Connectivity. Ask which system is fitted and whether it works over oceans and remote regions on your route. Streaming quality varies more than people expect.
  4. Airport approvals at each end, including any demanding mountain or island airport on the itinerary.
  5. Crew plan for long sectors, since an augmented crew changes both cost and the cabin space available.
  6. Base and positioning. An aircraft based near your departure airport is usually the biggest single saving on a one-way trip.
  7. Flexibility. If your group can accept a G650, Global 6500 or Falcon 8X, we ask for those too and put the options side by side, so you can weigh cabin, timing and price together.

Frequently asked questions about the Gulfstream G600

How far can a Gulfstream G600 fly?

Gulfstream publishes about 6,600 nm. On our practical screen it flies 103 of the 104 corridors we list nonstop; New York to Dubai is marginal.

How much does a Gulfstream G600 cost to charter?

Our pricing model uses USD 12,500 to 17,500 per flight hour for ultra-long-range jets as an estimate, based on published market rates. Real quotes add positioning, crew, fees and extras.

How many people can sleep on a G600?

Published figures list sleeping for up to ten, out of a typical charter load of 14 to 16 passengers in our data.

Is the G600 bigger than the G500?

Yes. It is longer inside, with room for an extra living area, and it has about 1,300 nm more published range. Both share the same cabin width and height.

Can a Gulfstream G600 fly New York to Dubai nonstop?

Sometimes. At about 5,950 nm great circle, the trip sits between the G600's practical and published range on our screen. With a moderate load and favourable winds a nonstop is possible, but the operator may plan a short fuel stop, particularly on the westbound return. We ask for the plan in both directions before you book.

G600 or G650: which should I charter?

The G650 is wider and reaches further; the G600 is newer and usually cheaper. On most of our corridors both fly nonstop, so availability and positioning often decide.

The Gulfstream G600 covers nearly every long-range trip we arrange at a rate below the flagships. Tell us your route, your group and how many need to sleep, and we will return with specific aircraft and firm operator quotes.
