Our data lists both Dubai airports. Al Maktoum International (DWC), in Jebel Ali south-west of the city, is the emirate's main business aviation base and the typical choice. Departure slots are easier to secure and to move. It is the natural option if you live in Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah or the southern districts. Our Al Maktoum airport page has the details.

Dubai International (DXB) is closer to Deira, Downtown and DIFC, and it also handles private flights. Because airline traffic is so heavy, preferred times at peak hours can be harder to get. For a fixed early departure, DXB can save a long drive; for plans that may change, DWC gives more room.

Arriving at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International

Our data sends the flight to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), Mumbai's long-established main airport in the northern suburbs. It is one of India's busiest airports and works with limited runway capacity, so arrival times are tightly managed. Private flights are handled separately from the airline terminals, but the arrival slot, rather than the flight, often decides when you can land. The earlier we know your preferred time, the better the chance of getting it.

The Mumbai region also has a second airport, Navi Mumbai International, across the harbour, which began operating in 2025. Our route data does not yet list it for private arrivals. If your destination is on that side of the city, ask us whether it is an option for your date. Juhu Aerodrome, close to the western suburbs, is mainly used by helicopters and small aircraft rather than jets arriving from abroad.

Getting into the city

Mumbai traffic is famous for good reason, and the drive from the airport to South Mumbai can take far longer than the distance suggests at peak hours. Plan your arrival time around the road as well as the air: a landing that avoids the evening rush can save more time than a faster aircraft.

Indian entry, permits and customs

A private jet does not change India's entry rules; it simply means fewer people in the queue. The operator sends passenger details in advance, and every traveller clears immigration and customs on arrival.

• Visas. Indian citizens need only their passport. Other passengers need a visa or e-Visa that fits their nationality and purpose of travel, applied for through the official Indian Visa Online portal. UAE residents who are not Indian citizens should check their own eligibility well before the flight.
• Flight permission. Non-scheduled flights by foreign-registered aircraft into India need permission arranged through the aviation authorities, overseen by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The operator and its handling agent manage this, but it takes time, which is one reason very short-notice bookings need extra care on this route.
• Customs. Indian customs rules on gold, jewellery and high-value goods are strict, and wedding travel often involves exactly those items. Check the current allowances with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and declare anything that needs declaring. Private terminals process customs just as carefully as airline terminals.

What moves the price

The spread inside each range reflects aircraft age, operator and timing. A newer super midsize at a busy weekend sits at the top; an older midsize already parked in Dubai on a quiet weekday sits near the bottom.

• Positioning. A one-way price includes the aircraft's empty return. That is why our return estimates are only about a quarter higher than one-way figures.
• Waiting time. If the aircraft waits in Mumbai for several days, crew hotels and parking add cost; sometimes sending it home and bringing it back is cheaper.
• Airport and handling fees, which vary between airports and handlers.

When to fly: monsoon, weddings and festivals

Mumbai's monsoon, roughly from June to September, brings heavy rain and low cloud. Flights still operate, but weather delays are more likely, and road transfers slow down on flooded streets. Build in a margin during those months.

The cooler months from late autumn to early spring are the busiest for weddings and family celebrations, and the autumn festival season adds to the demand.
