Private jet New York to Las Vegas: coast to desert in one flight

A private jet New York to Las Vegas flight takes you from Manhattan's business airports to the edge of the Strip in about five hours, with no connection and no terminal crowds at either end. Our figures put the great-circle distance at 1,935 nautical miles. A midsize jet flies it nonstop in about 5 hours 5 minutes, and super midsize and heavy jets in about 4 hours 50 minutes. Because you fly west across three time zones, a departure after a morning meeting in New York can land you in Las Vegas in time for an early lunch.

The data sections above this guide show the numbers for the corridor: flight times by aircraft category, the airports at each end, the right-sized aircraft and estimate ranges. This guide explains how to read them for a transcontinental trip that is often short on nights and long on luggage, and adds what matters most on this route: which Las Vegas airport to use, how event weeks change the picture and when a return booking makes sense.

We are a charter broker. We do not own or operate aircraft; we source your flight from licensed operators, compare options for your dates and stay with the trip until you are back home. You can learn more about how we work on the JetPriceCheck homepage.

Who flies private from New York to Las Vegas

The traffic on this route is a mix of business and celebration, often in the same trip. Conventions and trade shows bring executives and sales teams, most famously for CES each January. Sports weekends, boxing and mixed martial arts fight nights, residencies and the Formula 1 race each November bring groups of friends and corporate hospitality guests. Milestone birthdays and bachelor parties fill Friday departures year-round.

Most of these trips share three features. The group is often six to nine people, which is exactly the capacity of the aircraft that fly this route nonstop. The stay is short, usually two or three nights. And the schedule matters: a delayed airline connection can mean missing the reason for the trip. A NYC to Vegas private jet solves all three: one departure time the group chooses, one aircraft, and an arrival a few minutes from the hotel.

Choosing the aircraft: where the nonstop line falls

On a 1,935 nm westbound sector, range is the deciding factor, so the smallest aircraft is not always the cheapest overall option.

Midsize jets: the smallest nonstop option

Our data lists the Midsize Jet as the smallest category that flies this route nonstop, at about 5 hours 5 minutes. The Cessna Citation Latitude is a typical example: a flat-floor, stand-up cabin for up to about nine passengers and a baggage hold that copes with a weekend's worth of luggage. The Embraer Praetor 600, a longer-range aircraft often classed as super midsize, adds range margin for a heavier load or a stronger headwind.

Westbound flights across the United States often face headwinds, so the operator plans fuel for the actual winds on the day. On a full cabin with lots of luggage, the midsize nonstop can become tight in strong winter winds, and the operator will tell you if a stop is advisable.

Super midsize and heavy jets: comfort and margin

Super midsize jets such as the Bombardier Challenger 350 and the Cessna Citation Longitude fly the route in about 4 hours 50 minutes on our model, with a wider cabin and more range margin. For groups of ten or more, heavy jets like the Bombardier Challenger 650 or the Embraer Legacy 650E add seats and a galley suited to a five-hour flight, at the same estimated flight time. Ultra-long-range jets are a few minutes quicker again but rarely needed for range on a domestic sector.

Light jets and turboprops: expect a stop

Light jets need a fuel stop on our model, which turns about 5 hours 20 minutes of flying into a longer day. They can still suit a small group on a budget, and they sit at the lower end of the estimate table. Turboprops are much slower on this distance, at about 7 hours 30 minutes on our model, and our data does not confirm nonstop range, so they are rarely the right fit. Our aircraft guide explains the categories.

New York departure airports: Teterboro, Westchester or JFK

Teterboro for Manhattan

Teterboro is the departure airport in our data. It is run by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, lies about 12 miles from Midtown and handles business aviation only, with a weight limit of 100,000 pounds, according to its Wikipedia entry. For a domestic flight you go straight to the FBO chosen by the operator, meet the crew and board; there is no airline security queue. Friday afternoon traffic through the Lincoln Tunnel or over the George Washington Bridge is the main variable, so we suggest leaving generous time. Our Teterboro airport guide covers access.

Westchester County for the suburbs and Connecticut

If you live in Westchester, Greenwich or elsewhere north of the city, Westchester County Airport is often the quicker start, and it avoids the Manhattan crossings altogether.

JFK when the group is flying in

JFK is used less for private departures, but it can make sense if part of the group is arriving on an international flight and connecting straight into the charter. You can compare the options in our overview of private jet airports around New York.

Arriving in Las Vegas: Harry Reid, Henderson or North Las Vegas

Harry Reid International

Harry Reid International is the arrival airport in our data. It sits just south of the Strip, so the drive to most resorts is short. Private flights use FBOs on the west side of the airfield, separate from the airline terminals, so you step from the aircraft to a car without walking through the main terminal.

Henderson Executive

Henderson Executive, also run by the Clark County Department of Aviation according to the airport system's overview, is a general aviation airport south of the city and a popular alternative for a quieter arrival, according to its Wikipedia entry. It suits travellers heading to Henderson or the southern end of the Strip, and during the busiest events it takes aircraft that cannot find space at Harry Reid.

North Las Vegas

North Las Vegas Airport is a third option in the Clark County system. It is used mostly by smaller aircraft, and during major events it serves as overflow parking. We check with the operator which airport suits your aircraft and your hotel.

Event weeks: CES, fight nights and the Grand Prix

Las Vegas is one of the busiest private aviation destinations in the country, and its demand comes in sharp spikes around events rather than a smooth season.

The Formula 1 race each November is the extreme case. In a year of heavy demand, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that private parking on the west side of Harry Reid, handled by Signature and Atlantic Aviation, was fully booked with about 140 reservations, and that overflow space at North Las Vegas and Henderson was filling up. Local reporting from 8 News Now describes extra parking added at Henderson for large events and a new fee structure for private aircraft during the race.

CES in January and the biggest fight nights create a similar, smaller squeeze. For all of these, the practical rules are the same:

  • Book early, especially if you want the aircraft to wait for you in Las Vegas.
  • Expect reservations and fees for parking during the event week.
  • Be flexible on the arrival airport. Henderson can be the better choice when Harry Reid is full.
  • Plan the return time. Everyone leaves on the same day after a big event, so departures cluster.

We do not publish event dates here; check the organisers for the year you travel.

Private jet New York to Las Vegas price: reading the estimates

The price table above shows estimate ranges from our demonstration pricing model, in US dollars. They are not quotes and not offers. Only a licensed operator can price a specific aircraft on a specific date.

On our model, a one-way private jet New York to Las Vegas trip is estimated at:

  • Midsize jet (nonstop): about USD 41,000–61,000
  • Super midsize jet: about USD 51,000–74,000
  • Heavy jet: about USD 62,000–93,000
  • Light jet (fuel stop): about USD 34,000–51,000

Our private jet cost guide explains how the ranges are built.

Why a return often makes sense here

Because most Las Vegas stays last two or three nights, a return booking is often the better value on this route. On our model, a midsize return is estimated at about USD 51,000–77,000, against USD 41,000–61,000 one way. The reason is positioning: on a one-way trip you usually pay for the aircraft to fly home empty, while a return puts that sector to use. For a short stay, the operator may keep the aircraft and crew in Las Vegas, adding overnight crew costs and parking. For a longer stay, two separate one-way bookings can work out better. We price both.

What moves the number

  • Aircraft category, the largest single factor.
  • Event weeks, when aircraft are in demand and parking carries extra fees.
  • Positioning if the nearest suitable aircraft is not based in the New York area.
  • Waiting time, including crew hotels and parking in Las Vegas.
  • Winds. Strong westbound headwinds can force a stop in a smaller aircraft.

When you are ready for a firm figure, ask JetPriceCheck for a quote and we will return operator options side by side.

Timing, weather and the flight home

Las Vegas is three hours behind New York. A 10 a.m. departure from Teterboro, with about five hours in the air, lands around noon local time. The flight home is usually quicker, because the prevailing winds help eastbound aircraft, but it arrives later on the clock: an afternoon departure from Las Vegas reaches New York in the late evening.

Summer heat in the desert is worth knowing about. High temperatures reduce aircraft performance, and on the hottest afternoons an operator may plan the departure for a cooler hour or limit the load. In winter, it is the New York end that brings weather: snow and de-icing can delay departures from Teterboro, so allow some slack before a fixed commitment in Las Vegas.

Empty legs between New York and Las Vegas

With so many aircraft flying into Las Vegas for events and returning empty afterwards, empty legs do appear on this corridor, especially eastbound in the days after a big weekend. An empty leg is a positioning flight an operator sells below the price of a standard charter because the aircraft has to fly the sector anyway. The trade-off is flexibility: the date, time and aircraft are fixed, and the flight can be cancelled if the original booking changes. Our empty-leg flights page explains how to book them.
